But humans bred dogs for millennia to do those very jobs. The study is also significantly limited because there wasnt a way to test every breed of dogs or cats. However various studies have concluded that overall cats are not smarter than dogs.

Both species will develop bonds with their humans through regular interaction and behave in ways that may not be as easy to test in a laboratory environment. But before you get up in arms its important to note that cats are intelligent. A study carried out by researchers from six universities and published in Frontiers in Neuroanatomy suggests something that dog advocates may claim they already knew.

Based on this we can say that dogs are smarter than cats. While pet owners have loads of data to prove that cats are smarter than dogs or the other way around theres little scientific evidence to back up those claims. Dogs are smarter than cats.
